There’s no magic in dog training—just effective, evidence-based results. At Pixie Dust Dog Training, we move past the 'quick-fix' illusions and outdated dominance tactics. Instead, we offer what truly works: honest expectations, clear communication, and steady patience—rooted in humane, science-based practices.

Our certifications include Dogma Dog Trainer (DDT) and we are professional members of the Canadian Association of Professional Dog Trainers (CAPDT). Our work is strictly aligned with modern learning theory and the humane standards of organizations such as CAPDT and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA).

I. Humane, Force-Free Foundations

Positive Reinforcement Always: We use reward-based motivation, marker cues, and antecedent management to teach dogs what to do. Value is always defined by the learner—not the handler.
Our Framework (LIFE & LIMA): Our practice is built on the LIFE model (Least Inhibitive, Functionally Effective), ensuring that every dog’s autonomy and wellness are at the forefront of our sessions. This empowers us to exceed the industry-standard LIMA framework (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive), prioritizing the most supportive path for the learner.
Zero Coercive Tools: In alignment with CAPDT and CVMA standards, we never use or recommend prong collars, choke chains, shock/e-collars, slip leads used for physical corrections, "alpha rolls," or intentional flooding. Intimidation is not education.

II. Transparent Client Partnership

Honest Timelines, Zero Gimmicks: True behavioural modification requires time, consistency, and repetition. We can't offer guarantees on how fast a dog learns, but we can offer you a clear, honest plan.
Informed Consent: You will always understand the science and mechanics behind what we do. We don’t work behind closed doors, and we only capture media with prior written consent.
Support Without Shame: Living with behavioural challenges or the stress of raising a puppy is exhausting. We coach the human at the other end of the leash with empathy, clear communication, and zero judgment.
Inclusivity & Privacy: Your personal information and training records remain strictly confidential. We proudly welcome and advocate for all guardians and breeds, providing inclusive, expert support for foundational skills, puppy development, and general behavioural training.

III. Scope of Practice & Veterinary Collaboration

The Medical-Behaviour Connection: Discomfort and chronic stress drive behaviour. With your consent, we can work directly with your primary veterinarian whenever underlying pain or physiological factors are suspected to make sure our training plan works without compromising your pet’s health.
Clear Professional Boundaries: We are professional dog trainers, not medical clinicians. We do not diagnose illness, prescribe pharmaceuticals, or make therapeutic nutritional claims.
Know Our Limits: When a dog's needs exceed our scope—such as for specialized behaviour modification, complex behaviour cases, or clinical veterinary behaviour support—we facilitate direct referrals to appropriate professionals, including accredited behaviour consultants and veterinary behaviourists.
Safety & Preparedness: We maintain active relationships with local emergency veterinary clinics to ensure immediate medical access if an urgent need arises during a session.

IV. Lifelong Education

Evidence-Based Practice: Applied animal behaviour is an evolving science; we stay current with the latest peer-reviewed research to inform our training.
Professional Development: We regularly participate in accredited courses and industry conferences to refine our skills.
